System Settings: Optional Subsystems

Subsystems is a feature of the Windows architecture that has lost importance over the years. When NT came out it seemed important to MS to allow NT to run Unix and OS/2 programs and this was made possible through subsystems which created a virtual OS in which POSIX and OS/2 apps could run.

Microsoft has apparently removed these 2 subsystems anyway so I’m not sure why this setting is even here. For what it’s worth the setting is still in Vista too.

Anyway you should be fine just blanking out the default value of POSIX.
