Edit Network access: Restrict anonymous access to Named Pipes and Shares

This setting, if enabled, enables a system wide policy of requiring authentication for connection to all Named Pipes and Shares (shared folders and printers). A named pipe is a Windows specific interprocess communication method that allows processes on the same or different systems to communicate with each other.

You can configure exceptions to this policy with

  • Network access: Named Pipes that can be accessed anonymously
  • Network access: Shares that can be accessed anonymously

Bottom line

By default this setting is enabled and I recommend leaving it as such.
