This section of security policy is hodge-podge of miscellaneous security settings which in recent versions of Windows has been better organized by prefixing the policy names of related settings with a common term.
The importance of these settings vary greatly and it’s important to understand the ramifications of changing the policies from their default values.
With just a couple exceptions these policies only affect activity on the local computer. There are 1 or 2 settings that affect domain-wide operations and are noted accordingly. Note that a number of settings are limited to specific roles that a computer may or may not be performing. This includes the policies beginning with Domain Controller: and Domain Member: as well as Network Client: and Network Server. In the case of Network Client: and Network Server, a computer may hold both roles at the same time.
